Background and Discussion:
This project is the design and rehabilitation of the existing Grayson/ Baldree Community Center that is located at 13828 Corpus Christi St., Houston, TX 77015. The project is for the rehabilitation and addition to the Leon Z. Grayson/Baldree (Grayson) Community Center serving the North Channel Area Channelview/Cloverleaf/Highlands/North Shore/Sheldon). The existing facilities are both located at 13828 Corpus Christi St., Houston, TX 77015 on a 63,000 square foot tract of land owned by the County of Harris. Grayson is a 5,880 square foot metal building, and Baldree is a 10,507 square foot metal building. The community center was constructed in the 1980s and is open to the public daily providing a variety of recreational classes including performing arts, dancing, and fine arts. The community center provides safe, healthy, and fun experiences for residents of all ages in the North Channel Area. Precinct 2 is requesting $9,918,011 for the design, rehabilitation of, and addition of 750-square feet to the facility. The additional space will be dedicated space for Sheriff's use.
