Background and Discussion:
On November 10, 2020, Commissioners Court engaged in a discussion regarding the creation of an immigrant legal service program for indigent Harris County residents who had been victimized by crime. The discussion resulted in a resolution directing Community Services Department (CSD) to design, administer funds, and oversee an immigrant legal services program for indigent Harris County residents who had been victimized by crime. On July 20, 2021, Commissioners Court authorized the allocation of $500,000 for the Program's Guidelines. The Program shall provide direct legal representation to indigent Harris County residents who were victims of crime.
