Background and Discussion:
The South Mayde Creek sub watershed is in western Harris County (part of the Addicks Reservoir Watershed) has experienced repeated structural and roadway flooding over the past decade. The Flood Control District conducted a feasibility study in 2017 that recommended several flood risk reduction projects in the South Mayde Creek watershed, including a project in the area of the Grand Parkway and Clay Road. This project was further developed and refined in 2021 by a preliminary engineering report under Bond Program map ID C-48. This preliminary engineering report recommends the acquisition, design, and construction of three detention basins that will provide 226 acre-feet of detention storage. Authorization to Negotiate was approved under the name, "Clay Stormwater Detention Basins located at Clay Road near Grand Parkway."
