Background and Discussion:

Approval of certain projects, decreeing the projects to be a public necessity and convenience, and directing the Harris County Real Property Division to acquire fee simple tracts for the public project known as the Harris County Project Recovery Post Disaster Relocation and Buyout program, for the purpose of preventing future flood damage.

Previously, these two parcels were originally appraised and submitted together for public necessity approval under the tract number G103-00-00-11-810.0 at the September 15, 2020 court.  Through the grant program that this acquisition is funded by, the GLO did not approve the parcels to be submitted together.  Therefore, this request created two tract numbers (G103-00-00-11-810.0 & G103-00-00-11-825.0) to split the parcels into separate tracts for GLO and court approval.

Expected Impact:

Harris County’s future flood resilience and the safety of our residents and first responders depends upon returning repetitively flooded areas to green space.
