Background and Discussion:

The Northlake Forest Subdivision is located in Precinct 3, north of Spring Cypress Road and east of Barker Cypress Road. The project will improve the existing public drainage system in order to reduce ponding during the 2-year, 10-year, and 100-year storm events. The improvements include upsizing existing inlets, extending storm sewers and adding additional inlets, upsizing the system’s outfall to reinforced concrete boxes, and adding a restrictor to avoid adverse impacts to the receiving waterways. This study report is an executive summary with supporting appendices of detail to describe the design and construction scope moving forward.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. This study report is a step in the process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Northlake Forest subdivision homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA. There are no direct staffing or fiscal impacts for this item.
