Request for approval to purchase a certain tract for a negotiated price for Harris County for the public project known as Holderrieth Road Drainage Improvements Project, tract number 1A, for $40,000.00, which is $9,948.00 over the appraised value, UPIN 18104MF0R901, Precinct 4.

Background and Discussion:

The tract number 1A is required to provide the needed additional right-of-way.  This additional right-of-way is required to accommodate the widening of the existing 2 lane roadway to a full boulevard section.

Expected Impact:

The project will address current and future traffic volumes, reduce delays, and reduce structural flooding of adjacent residences, businesses, and schools.

Alternative Options:

Proceed to a special commissioners hearing that takes additional time and has an unknown outcome. Alternatively, if Tract number 1A is not purchased the project would not have the required right-of-way to construct the project and thus the only options would be to abandon the project or to purchase additional right-of-way on the north side of the project.
