Background and Discussion:

This grant would provide funding for the Sheriff’s Auto Theft Unit during the period of September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024.

 

Expected Impact:

This grant would provide funding for the Auto Theft Unit to continue combatting motor vehicle burglary, motor vehicle theft, and fraud-related motor vehicle crime and continue participation with the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority which fosters a statewide collaborative network amongst auto theft units.

 

Alternative Options:

If we do not apply for this grant, Harris County would forfeit the opportunity to receive funding for the Sheriff’s Auto Theft Unit.
