Background and Discussion:
The purpose of the Area Planning Advisory Council is to advise the Houston/Harris County Area Agency on Aging on matters relating to the development and administration of the area plan; conduct of public hearings; the representation of interests of older persons; review of comment on all community policies, programs and action with respect to older persons. In doing so, the Council shall provide the framework within which the City of Houston and Harris County shall survey health, education and social opportunities, resources, and facilities as they relate to available resources to meet the needs of older citizens and develop plans through appropriate action programs.
Expected Impact:
Appointment of an expired position assigned to and previously appointed by the County Judge, which will enable continuity of operations and leadership on the council.
