Background and Discussion:
The Harris County Public Health (HCPH) Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (LPPP) was awarded and received funding from CDC to develop programs and policies to prevent childhood lead poisoning and other housing related health hazards. To date, HCPH LPPP has initiated primary prevention activities by partnering with organizations and stakeholders to provide lead presentations and attending outreach events in targeted/vulnerable populations on lead toxicity and prevention. In addition, promote secondary prevention activities to increase lead testing by educating public health professionals and pediatric healthcare providers on the State Reporting forms. This will be a non-competing renewal.

Expected Impact:
The Harris County Public Health Lead Poisoning Prevention Program supports the strategy related to: 1. developing strategic partnerships and policies to implement targeted, population-based interventions aimed at primary prevention of lead exposure with a focus on community- based approaches for lead hazard elimination.
