Background and Discussion:

This project would be funded with state funds through the Specialty Courts program. The Harris County Felony Mental Health Court provides treatment that targets mental illness, substance use and thinking patterns and attitudes that support criminal behavior. The program utilizes evidence-based best practices including cognitive behavioral therapy with the goal of reducing recidivism. Budget is requested for the salary and benefits of the program director.

The grant position would be an employee of CSCD and expenses would appear in the County ledgers as
payments to sub-recipients.
