Background and Discussion:
In accordance with 30 TAC ?335.403(b)(6), this action authorizes the use of Harris County properties for these HHW collection events, which will allow residents the opportunity to properly dispose of household hazardous waste.
These events provide residents of unincorporated Harris County an easy, safe, and efficient way to dispose of chemicals found in their home. These events are localized and have been conducted in the spring and fall since 2007. These events are conducted in areas that are not in close proximity to the permanent collection facility.
HHW collection events are planned for the following dates: Precinct 1 on April 15, 2023, Precinct 2 on May 20, 2023, Precinct 3 on May 6, 2023; and Precinct 4 on April 29, 2023, all subject to adjustment in the event of inclement weather.
Expected Impact:
These events prevent approximately 6 tons of hazardous chemicals being placed in our local landfills or
waterways annually.
Alternative Options:
Residents of unincorporated Harris County may dispose of household hazardous waste at the permanent collection facility located at 6900 Hahl Road by scheduling an appointment.
