Background and Discussion:
This grant relates to an application that was authorized by Commissioners Court on 5/14/19 and is the final year of four years of funding. The grant project focuses on prevention and surveillance strategies, whereby surveillance data related to mortality, clinical, and related data will be linked in order to support prevention activities centered around care, education, and coalition-building.

Expected Impact:
The renewal of this grant will allow for the continuation of surveillance and prevention activities related to substance use both in Harris County and the Houston Health Department jurisdiction through a subaward. Funds from this grant also support efforts in the substance use program at the Harris County Sheriff's Office through its existing partnership with Harris County Public Health. Additionally, it would fully fund the staff members who currently work full time on this project.
