Background and Discussion:
The Houston Immigration Legal Services Collaborative works behind the scenes to strengthen and expand access to high-quality, low-cost immigration legal services across the Greater Houston region. This involves coordinating with legal service providers, community organizations, and advocacy groups to identify service gaps, build capacity, and streamline referrals. Much of HILSC's background work includes conducting research and data collection on immigrant populations and service needs, developing shared tools and resources for providers, and facilitating training and professional development opportunities for attorneys, accredited representatives, and community advocates.
