Background and Discussion:
Based on internal testing conducted by the Harris County Public Health - Mosquito and Vector Control Division, certain mosquito populations in Harris County have developed resistance to some of the adulticide products currently used to control mosquitoes that may transmit West Nile virus. To support ongoing evaluation of alternative mosquito control products, Clarke Mosquito Control has offered a non-monetary donation of 30 gallons of Master Mix 412 and 5 gallons of Duovex. These products will be used for preliminary field testing to assess their effectiveness against local mosquito populations. The results of this evaluation will help inform future decisions regarding the potential transition to alternative adulticide products as existing inventory is depleted, ensuring the division continues to use effective mosquito control methods to protect public health.
