Background and Discussion:
The Texas Education Agency has awarded additional funds to the Excel Academy Charter School to (1) carry out high quality education programs to prepare children for secondary school completion, training, employment, or further education, and (2) to provide children with the services needed to make a successful transition from juvenile correctional facilities to further education or employment. The Harris County Juvenile Board has accepted these funds. These funds are for the period beginning July 1, 2024, and ending September 30, 2025.
Expected Impact:
These funds allow the school to employ additional teachers to provide GED and career studies instruction. Additionally, funds are used to hire staff to transition students into their home schools and receive necessary services.
