Background and Discussion:
The Veterans Mental health Peer support services grant will the second year VSD has been awarded by the grant. The grant will serve veterans incarcerated or recently incarcerated in the Harris County Jail with the goal of preventing recidivism. The grant will create peer-based support with reentry plans, treatment and housing options. This grant supports 3 FTEs at 100%


Expected Impact:
The expected impact is to see a reduction of repeat incarcerations in the veterans population in Harris county

Without this grant Harris County would continue to see an increase of repeat incarcerations in its veteran populations
