Background and Discussion:

The Harris County Office of the County Engineer (OCE) has revised the Driveway Regulations to assist in the permitting of driveways and/or culverts. Harris County driveway details and regulations have remained unchanged since 2005. The proposed revisions of driveway configurations and setback requirements will comply with geometric design guidelines and current City of Houston standards.

Expected Impact:

This approval will ensure that development in unincorporated areas will not pose a threat to the safety and welfare of the public as prescribed by Commissioners Court

Alternative Options:

Harris County can continue to operate with the existing regulations and guidelines, which will not provide the benefits of the updated guidelines.
