Background and Discussion:

CARP designated staff will engage with all felony releases with an emphasis on the individuals with a higher likelihood of nonappearance and the total award for this contract is for $400,000. The majority of funding for the contract is provided by Commissioners Court ($300,000) as part of the FY2025 budget with the remainder from Pretrial Services. In July of 2022, ideas42 completed a report on people charged with misdemeanor and court appearance. This report provided recommendations and insight as to why people missed based on self-report. Many services proposed by CARP-Felony, are identified in the report as reasons individuals missed a court appearance.

Expected Impact:
Reduction of court non-appearance and the number of warrants issued for failure to appear.
