Background and Discussion:
The Apache Corporation is a Houston-based oil and gas exploration and production company. The Apache Corporation created the Apache Corporation Tree Program, which purchases and donates native seedlings or young trees for beautification projects coordinated by counties, municipalities, schools, churches, parks, or other non-profits. The organizations receiving the trees are responsible for planting and caring for the trees.

Expected Impact:
The trees will be planted in various Precinct 4 parks, along trails, and in green spaces and roadway medians. Additional trees will increase the tree canopy in Precinct 4, thereby reducing the heat island effect, improving air quality, and enhancing the public's enjoyment of public spaces. Finally, an event is planned for early November to give away some of the trees.

Alternative Options:
1. Precinct 4 purchases trees using Harris County funds.
2. Precinct 4 does not purchase any trees and the public does not receive the quality of life benefits that these trees would provide.
