Background and Discussion:
SAMHSA issued a Notice of Award on Sept. 8, 2023, informing Harris County that we were granted the award. We are requesting the court's approval for a temporary transfer of funds for the five positions created in the acceptance of the original award, pending receipt of additional award: two (2) Licensed Clinical Social Workers and three (3) Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors. Through this grant, the ACCESS Program will be able to advance mental health care, and substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery services to improve individual, community, and public health.


Expected Impact:
This project aims to increase access to comprehensive mental health support for ACCESS participants. ACCESS participants will receive direct care with peer support groups, individual and group counseling sessions, an evidence-based mental health platform, and access to specialized consulting based on their identified needs.
