Background and Discussion:

In 2020 the Flood Control District conveyed 10.1 acres to Harris County out of a previously acquired 56.1 acres.  The parcels were intended to support the construction of the Treaschwig Rd A detention basin and a future parking lot and small trail head.  The original detention basin layout for Treaschwig Rd A changed due to ATLAS-14 rainfall data as well as an increased requirement for floodplain fill mitigation.  The change in the basin footprint resulted in a need for additional property beyond what was originally conveyed from the Flood Control District to Harris County.  This additional 10.8 acres allows Harris County to construct the 11.2-acre detention basin, store material during construction, and reserve space for future Cypress Creek Greenway amenities.

Expected Impact:

This conveyance of the property will allow the detention pond and the road project to be constructed.

Alternative Options:

If no action is taken, Harris County will not be able to construct the detention pond or the road project.
