Background and Discussion:
Camps will be held at seven different locations, and we will serve approximately 300 kids across the precinct. In-door camp locations are JD Walker, Deputy Darren Almendarez, Hardy, Mangum Howell Community Centers, and East Harris County Activity Center. Outdoor camps will be at Challenger 7 Memorial Park and North Shore Rotary Pavilion.
One portion is funded by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) grant in the amount of $5,000.
Expected Impact:
Serve approximately 300 children in low to moderate income areas over a 10-week period helping students to continue learning and preventing the “summer slide.” Aide in keeping children physically active, increase communication skills, build friendships, creating safe play spaces for children, and ensuring that kids have one good meal per day.
