Background and Discussion:

A contract amendment is needed because a more recent appraisal of the property has valued approximately $2.1M higher than the original estimate. The Real Property Division has reviewed and approved the appraisal and supports the contract amendment.

 Expected Impact:

The purchase and demolition of a Severe Repetitive Loss property will remove the structure (a motel) from the floodplain, preventing future flood insurance claims, and allowing the floodplain to function in a more natural manner.

Alternative Options:

Taking no action would result in not reaching an agreement with the property owner.

Alignment with Goal(s):

_ Justice and Safety

_ Economic Opportunity

_ Housing

_ Public Health

_ Transportation

X Flooding

_ Environment

_ Governance and Customer Service
