Background and Discussion:

This is a request to authorize negotiation for an agreement that will provide stormwater detention in the Cypress Creek Watershed to reduce flood levels and the overall risk of flooding for nearby structures. This project is located in the northern portion of Harris County, Texas within the Cypress Creek Watershed and includes excavation of three detention basins.

Expected Impact:

Materials engineering and testing services under this agreement will provide essential quality control and assurance, ensuring that soils and construction materials meet specified standards and performance criteria, ultimately leading to enhanced structural integrity and longevity while reducing risks and costs associated with earthen and material failures. This quality control and assurance will help ensure that flood risk reduction projects are constructed properly.

Alternative Options:

An alternative option would be to select another consultant; however, that would result in delays to this project, further delaying flood risk reduction in the area.
