Background and Discussion:

The Office of the County Engineer continues to deliver projects to that aim to improve subdivision drainage facilities, reduce flooding within subdivisions, improve mobility, and provide community improvement projects. The HNTB Corporation retainer on-call agreement is being utilized to provide staff augmentation needed to deliver various subdivision drainage improvement projects countywide. This renewal is a request for a one year extension.

Expected Impact:

Successful completion of the projects will aim to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community.  Staff Augmentation provides the resources to maintain project schedules and manage workloads effectively.

Alternative Options:

Commissioners Court could opt to hire permanent Harris County staff to complete the work or the project

delivery schedules could be adjusted to reduce the number of projects underway at one time to allow current

Harris County staff to complete the work.  Adjusting project schedules could potentially impact grant and partnership funding.
