Background and Discussion:
Currently, all security devices permitted in county right of way are assessed a fee. Use of these devices by government entities improves the safety for the general public and should not be charged for permitting them in county right of way.
Expected Impact:
The fee exemption will only apply to government entities. Homeowner Associations and other groups not meeting the definition by Government Code 2252.001 are not exempt.
Alternative Options:
Continue to charge fees to government entities creating an unnecessary burden on public funding of security devices.
