title
Request for approval to execute an agreement with Stevens Technical Services Inc. in the amount of $117,247.00 for Professional Engineering Services to rebuild a traffic signal at the intersection of West Little York Road at Addicks Satsuma Road, UPIN 24035MF37K01, Precinct 4, MWDBE Contracted Goal: 19.60%.
end
Background and Discussion:
Traffic signals are re-built to improve the operation of an intersection and better facilitate pedestrian activities. The existing signal uses outdated and degrading equipment and does not accommodate pedestrian crossings. Re-building this signal will ensure the intersection is brought up to compliance with current standards and provide pedestrian connectivity.
Expected Impact:
Re-building the traffic signal will bring the infrastructure to current standards and specifications and reduce overall maintenance cost. It will also significantly reduce the risk of failure during a catastrophic event.
Alternative Options:
To continue to maintain the existing traffic signal and slowly replace degrading parts as they fail. This may
potentially be more costly and incurs a risk of failure due to aging infrastructure.
Alignment with Goal(s):
_ Justice and Safety
_ Economic Opportunity
_ Housing
_ Public Health
x Transportation
_ Flooding
_ Environment
_ Governance and Customer Service
