Background and Discussion:

This change in contract included adding additional cost due to unforeseen field conditions:

-                     Removing of 4-6-inches of concrete on the bottom of the manhole, to prevent the obstruction a proper seal at the end of the cure-in-place pipe.

-                     Plan drawings call to reconnect an existing 8" waterline service at station; however, no pay item exists for 8" water service connections.

-                     The plans specify the connection to existing manholes to accommodate the addition of new manholes, but no pay item was provided to compensate contractor for additional work.

-                     To facilitate Harris County standards for the driveway, two fence gate where impacted and relocation was needed to meet Harris County standards.

 

New Items added to the contract include:

                     Remove concrete at the bottom of sanitary manhole for the total amount of ($500.00)

                     8” Water Service Connection for the total amount of ($7008.09)

                     Core & boot for existing Sanitary Sewer manhole for the total amount of ($13,574.00)

                     Relocate fence gate for the total amount of ($27,042.75)

 

Expected Impact:

This change in contract allows the contractor to be appropriately compensated for the additional cost.

 

Alternative Options:

To provide Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and identify and map underground utilities before construction project, but it would conflict with letting timeline.
