Background and Discussion:
By receiving Texas Community Mental Health Grant (CMHG) funds, ACCESS Harris County will expand the mental health services provided to cohort members, who are some of the county's most vulnerable residents. This will help improve their health, well-being, sustained recovery, and self-sufficiency. Additionally, funding would increase the availability of support services that assist participants in remaining engaged in their mental health services by removing barriers to care including childcare, transportation, housing, and employment and education services.

Expected Impact:
If awarded, this would be the first year of potentially five years of funding for the department under this grant program. ACCESS Harris County would utilize this funding to expand the mental health services provided across the Violence Prevention, Re-entry, Homelessness/Physical & Behavioral Health Cohorts. Budget is requested for personnel and operating costs needed to increase access to behavioral health services, enhance Continuity of Care, and increase support services that assist individuals in remaining engaged in mental health services such as childcare, transportation, employment and ...
