Background and Discussion:

The Title V Maternal and Child Health Fee-for-Service Program grant is administered through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). This grant supports the delivery of prenatal medical services, child health services, and/or prenatal and/or child dental services to eligible clients. The grant serves low-income women, children, and adolescents who aren’t eligible for Medicaid CHIP, CHIP Perinatal or another program that covers the same service. The HCPH - Dental Health and Prevention (DHP) division initially received this grant in 2019 and has successfully renewed it on an annual basis to sustain its operations from 2019 to 2024.

Expected Impact:

The dental program expects to use these funds to increase its total number of unduplicated patients served by 100 to 1,450 patients annually. These funds could contribute to HCPH's Strategic Plan’s Health Equity Goal 1.2: Expand access and awareness to HCPH and social safety net services through partnerships and collaboration across sectors and systems to impact social determinants of health. The services provided will encompass free or affordable dental care for children, adolescents, and adults, further advancing the organization's commitment to fostering inclusive healthcare.
