Background and Discussion:
Early Childhood Initiatives in the Department of Economic Equity and Opportunity is responsible for managing approximately $178M in ARPA-funded programs targeted at improving outcomes for Harris County's youngest constituents. Several new programs will come online during the first two quarters of the calendar year 2024. This request will support the hiring of one manager to implement and manage important Early Childhood Initiatives programs, including Harris County RISE, Harris County Inspire, and FUEL Harris County.

Please note that this budget was reviewed and approved by the ARPA Steering Committee in compliance with established ARPA approval processes.

Expected Impact:
The budget request of $409,050 will come from ARPA funds, and no increase will occur to DEEO's general fund budget. This administrative support is critical to ensuring ARPA-funded programs are successfully launched, monitored, completed, and all closeout is done properly in compliance with Treasury requirements.
