Background and Discussion:
The Court approved the bylaws of the LGBTQIA+ Commission on July 18, 2023. These amendments have been made at the Commission's request, based on the advice of the County Attorney’s Office, and in consultation with the Boards & Commissions Office. These amendments include the addition of a Secretary Officer position, modification of agenda posting requirements, transition of "annual reporting" to even-numbered years, adjustments to public speaker protocols, and provision for a "vacated" Commission seat to remain At-Large. This final change allows for the seat to be filled through a process appointed by the Commission, subject to approval by a majority vote of the Commissioners Court.
