Background and Discussion:
Cypress Park Stormwater Detention Basin, HCFCD Unit K500-01-00 expansion is situated along Cypress Creek, HCFCD Unit K100-00-00 in Precinct 3. Harris County Engineering and Harris County Commissioner Precinct 3 have prepared a design for a gate system and basin expansion to be integrated into the existing stormwater detention basin operation. This is an innovative pilot project exploring the use of pump stations as a method to facilitate flood risk reduction. The Flood Control District intends to contribute a maximum of $1,500,000 from Bond ID Z-04 and $3,500,000 from Bond ID Z-05 towards the basin enhancements. Upon completion of the project, Harris County Precinct 3 will maintain and operate the gate system.
Expected Impact:
The joint project and funding structure will facilitate more efficient and cost-effective governmental services.
