Background and Discussion: Channel blockages pose an immediate risk to the surrounding community and can create erosion issues downstream of the blockage. Working within the channel flowline requires highly skilled equipment operators to remove obstructions without causing damage to the channel. The District has contracted this service to ensure that blockages are removed as soon as they are identified.

Expected Impact: Renewing this contract will allow the District to provide the services needed to support maintenance of channels and basins throughout Harris County.

Alternative Options: Awarding a contract that provides fewer services or a reduced level of services.  Performing some of the services with in-house forces.
