Request for approval to execute an agreement with Gradient Group, LLC in the amount of $105,072.40 for Professional Engineering Services to construct a traffic signal at the intersection of Imperial Valley Drive and Doubletree Glen Drive, UPIN 23101MF2XP01, Precinct 1, MWDBE Contracted Goal: 100%.
end
Background and Discussion:
A traffic study was conducted at Imperial Valley Drive at Doubletree Glen Drive, which warranted a traffic signal at the intersection. The traffic signal will enhance safety as it relates to the intersection operations.
Expected Impact:
The installation of the new traffic signal will improve the operations and public safety of the intersection.
Alternative Options:
Intersections are evaluated in accordance with the 2011 Texas Manual on Uniform Control Devices (TMUTCD), which takes into consideration traffic volume, crashes, pedestrian activity, and the roadway network. The intersection was evaluated and a traffic signal was warranted. Another option is to install multi-way stop control. However, this is recommended as an interim measure while arrangements are being made for the installation of the traffic control signal per the TMUTCD.
