Background and Discussion:

The mechanical and lighting systems at Annex 53 are old and have reached their end of life.  The consultant on this project will provide services consisting of architectural and MEP engineering design for the entire Annex 53 facility. This project is listed on the Capital Improvement Plan list for FY23.

Expected Impact:

Completion of this project will increase the reliability of the building’s critical infrastructure systems.  This project will also prevent catastrophic MEP systems failure and disruption of service. This project will also upgrade the current lighting system to LED in support of the County’s Climate Action Plan.

Alternative Options:

The system is currently operating and could be maintained in that capacity; however, it is old and prone to breaking down.  If the system breaks down, parts are no longer available for its repair due to the age of the equipment.
