Background and Discussion:

New pay items will be added to the contract and quantities of existing pay items will be increased. During bidding, the imported fill pay item was inadvertently left out, and a quote had to be obtained from the Contractor for inclusion by change order. The Engineer of Record made revisions which resulted in an increase in the boulders and rock needed for armoring the slopes, an increased number of trees cleared as erosion encroached on root zones, and an increase in the excavation quantities to match revised design slopes and remove highly erodible sand along the toe of slope.

Expected Impact:

This RCA is required to complete the HCFCD construction contract under the original or needed revised scope.

Alternative Options:

This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
