Background and Discussion:

This project is part of the Mid-Reach Greens Bayou Channel Conveyance Improvements including channel conveyance improvements along Greens Bayou. This project will work in conjunction with the Lauder Stormwater Detention Basin Phase I and II. The project will accommodate flows that result from the Harris County Engineering neighborhood drainage improvement project in the Castlewood area (P138-01-00). Additionally, Harris County Engineering is proposing roadway and drainage improvements to improve the local storm sewer system in High Meadows and Fairgreens Neighborhoods to increase storm sewer capacity and improve conveyance to (P138-01-01). These improvements will divert discharges to the Lauder Detention Basin. This project scores in the 1st quartile under the 2022 Prioritization Framework approved by Commissioners Court.

Expected Impact:

The overall objective for this project is to improve the drainage systems and work in conjunction with the Lauder Phase I and Phase II Stormwater Detention Basins storage to reduce flooding in the Greens Bayou watershed.

Alternative Options:

The alternative to approval of this request is to either submit a request for another consultant, which would delay the effort of flood reduction benefits for the area.
