Request for approval of a change in contract with Main Lane Industries, LTD in connection with Kowis Street Reconstruction - Royal Pine Drive to approx. 180’ east of Bentley Road, adding 5 calendar days, with an addition in the amount of $68,802.45, Job No. 21/0366-3, UPIN 20102MF1EZ01, Precinct 2, MWDBE Contracted Goal: 12%, MWDBE Current Participation: 18.61%.

Background and Discussion:
Project includes the reconstruction of Kowis Street from Halls Bayou Hike and Bike Trail to James Driver Inclusive Park. The original plans miscalculated the quantity of 10’x12’ Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) and additional 24”, 36”, and 48” RCP is needed to connect existing drainage to this additional length of storm sewer. The intersection of Shady Lane requires MOD 3 and MOD 7 ADA ramps, as well as a redesigned concrete headwall with parallel wing walls.
Expected Impact:
The change allows the additional length of storm sewer to complete the project in accordance with the contract documents as well as being able to construct safe and appropriate pedestrian facilities at Shady Lane.
Alternative Options:
Reduce the scope of drainage improvements and allow the intersection of Shady Lane to be constructed with incomplete and/or inappropriate pedestrian facilities.
Alignment with Goal(s):
_ Justice and Safety
_ Economic Opportunity
_ Housing
_ Public Health
X Transportation
_ Flooding
_ Environment
_ Governance and Customer Service
