Background and Discussion:

The infrastructure systems in the various county detention facilities are experiencing escalating maintenance issues.  As 24/7 facilities, these systems need to operate reliably without jeopardizing operations and code compliance.  These systems include, but are not limited to fire/life safety infrastructure, domestic water systems, sanitary piping systems, lighting systems, security doors, and HVAC systems.

 

Expected Impact:

The project controls for the planning and assessment of the two main Harris County Detention facilities will determine the condition of the infrastructure systems and impact on operations.  The project recommendations will include the planning and assessment of current detention facilities such as improved medical facilities, prioritization of system rehabilitation or replacement, operational impacts, and life safety required updates.
