Background and Discussion:

The Homestead Detention Basin (HCFCD Unit H500-01-00) was constructed using federal funding.  Alterations to the basin constructed as part of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ project require permission from the Corps of Engineers, Galveston District. The Trail and Amenity Project proposes a hike and bike trail, parking lot, driveway, and amenities access around the Detention Basin. The proposed trail is approximately 6,900 linear feet in length and 10 feet wide and located on the top of the berm that follows the perimeter of the Homestead Detention Basin. The improvement will alter the existing condition which requires USACE’s Section 408 review and permission.

Expected Impact:

Provide a park with amenities to the local community.
