title

Request for approval to execute a Service Outlet Location Statement for the installation of an electric meter with CenterPoint Energy and to authorize the County Auditor to pay monthly bills for 11350 ½ Barker Trace Drive, Cypress, TX 77433 (intersection of Cypress North Houston Road at Barker Trace Drive) for electrical power serving a traffic signal, Precinct 3.

Background and Discussion:

A traffic study was conducted at Cypress North Houston Road at Barker Trace Drive, which warranted a traffic signal at the intersection. The traffic signal will enhance safety as it relates to the intersection operations. The service outlet location statement is needed to establish electrical service from CenterPoint Energy to power the traffic signal.

Expected Impact:

Approval of the service outlet location statement will allow CenterPoint Energy to provide electrical service to the traffic signal, which is needed to enhance the public safety and operation of the intersection of Cypress North Houston Road at Barker Trace Drive.

Alternative Options:

All Traffic Signals require a power source, which is typically obtained through CenterPoint Energy. Alternative options are to place a generator, which is not reliable, or not install the traffic signal at the intersection. Both options pose a public safety concern and will impact the operation and increase delay of the intersection.
