Background and Discussion:
This project was recommended and outlined in the Keegans Bayou Watershed Planning Study. The project
consists of the construction of a series of detention basins along D118‐02‐00 and increasing the size of the
existing storm sewer line under Beltway 8 draining to D118‐02‐00. These improvements are estimated to
provide flood volume mitigation of 275 ac‐ft. This item is requested so that we may have the selected consultant begin the preliminary engineering and design of the improvements along D118‐02‐00-E001. This project scores in the 1st quartile under the 2022 Prioritization Framework approved by Commissioners Court.
Expected Impact:
The recommended project potentially provides up to 275‐ac‐ft of detention along D118‐02‐00 and benefits
residential areas along both sides of Beltway 8 north of West Airport Road. These improvements also reduce peak flows to Keegans Bayou from D118‐02‐00. The Flood Control District staff, including staff augmentation will manage an engineering consultant team to execute the preliminary engineering and design stages of this
project.
Alternative Options:
The alternative to approving this item would be to deny this request which will delay progress on this project.

_ Housing
