Background and Discussion:

The previous Executive Director of HCCSD had begun the process of soliciting sponsorships to a HCCSD event entitled “Half Way There”; which was intended to support local school teachers and provide community awareness of CSD’s programs. One sponsorship had remitted to the County’s “donation fund” to support this event. HCCSD staff must now refund the sponsor for the amount remitted. Other donation amounts were approved by Commissioners Court on December 13, 2022; however, the event was canceled prior to HCCSD receiving those funds.

 

Expected Impact:

The total amount received from this donor was $2,000. This amount will be returned in full to the donor due to the cancellation of the event, which was expected to assist 200 Harris County teachers with their school supply needs and other resources.

 

Alternative Options:

Not approving this item will prevent donors from receiving the money that was provided to HCCSD for a specific purpose.
