Background and Discussion:

Traffic signals are installed to improve the safety operation of an intersection. The existing traffic signal at Clinton Drive and Galena Manor Drive was installed 38 years ago and it is recommended to rebuild the traffic signal to current standards and specifications. Rebuilding the traffic signal will bring the infrastructure to current standards/specifications and reduce overall maintenance cost. It will also significantly reduce the risk of failure during a catastrophic event.

Expected Impact:

Rebuilding the traffic signal will bring the infrastructure to current standards and specifications and reduce overall maintenance cost. It will also significantly reduce the risk of failure during a catastrophic event.

Alternative Options:

To continue to maintain the existing traffic signal and slowly replace degrading parts as they fail. This may potentially be more costly and incurs a risk of failure due to aging infrastructure, which is a safety concern.
