Background and Discussion:

On August 31, 2022, Commissioners Court approved an agreement between Harris County and the Texas General Land Office for CDBG-MIT funds in the amount of $750,000,000.00 for Flood Control Infrastructure and Mitigation. 

 

CDBG-MIT represents an opportunity to fund strategic and high-impact activities to mitigate disaster risk identified by a community and reduce future losses. This position will coordinate and monitor activities that provide assistance in areas impacted by recent disasters. The position will carry out strategic and high-impact activities to mitigate disaster risks and reduce future losses in areas impacted by recent disasters. 

 

Expected Impact:

The fiscal impact to the County is anticipated to be $216,567 in CDBG-MIT funds and $216,567 in General Funds.

 

Alternative Options:

The alternative would be to not add the position and the work would be placed upon existing overburdened staff which may significantly hinder the timely completion of the project.
