Background and Discussion:

This Contract Change is to add a new pay item and to add days to the contract time due to inclement weather. A Pay Item is being added to provide a method for compensating the Contractor for the construction of METRO bus pads which were added to the project. Five days are added to the contract due to inclement weather which impacted the completion time of the project for the period of time between April 16, 2022, and May 15, 2022. The cost increase due to the addition of the METRO bus pads is being offset by a decrease of Channel Lining (8 inch), which we have determined will underrun the contract quantity.

Expected Impact:

This RCA is required to complete the District construction contract under original or needed revised scope.

Alternative Options:

This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
