Request by the Sheriff for approval to submit an application to the Office of the Governor/Criminal Justice Division for grant funds in the amount of $24,250, with no required cash match, for the FY 2023 Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Program.

Background and Discussion:
The overall goal of this grant program is to offset agency-incurred travel costs for sending peace officers to ALERRT training. Grant funds will be used to send twenty certified peace officers to attend ALERRT training.
Expected Impact:
Grant funds will address the need for active shooter response training for first responders in Harris County.
Alternative Options:
If we do not apply for this grant, the Sheriff’s Office would forfeit the opportunity to receive funds from the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division to send 20 certified peace officers to attend ALERRT training.
