Background and Discussion:

This grant is a coordinated school health program that aims to clinically evaluate the effects of a school-based behavioral intervention to reduce the risk of dental caries in a cohort of kindergarten through 2nd grade (K-2) children. Harris County Public Health (HCPH) serves as the dental subject matter expert (SME) and provides the clinicians to conduct the assessments.

Expected Impact:

The CATCH Healthy Smiles subaward grant funds will allow the HCPH Dental Program to support school-based operations, conduct training for clinicians in the ICDAS system of measurements, pay salaries and procure needed supplies.
