Background and Discussion:
A traffic signal was installed to improve the safety operation of the intersection. Geometric improvements and signal rebuild are recommended to improve the operation of the traffic signal and turning movements. The service outlet location statement is needed to establish electrical service from CenterPoint Energy to power the traffic signal.
Expected Impact:
Approval of the service outlet location statement will allow CenterPoint Energy to establish electrical service to the traffic signal, which is needed to enhance the safety and operation of the intersection of Kuykendahl Rd at Creekside Green Dr.
Alternative Options:
All Traffic Signals require a power source, which is typically obtained through CenterPoint Energy. Alternative options are to place a generator, which is not reliable, or not install the traffic signal at the intersection. Both options pose a public safety concern and will impact the operation and increase delay of the intersection.
